2. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that websites visited by the user send to their device (computer, tablet, smartphone), where they are stored and then retransmitted to the same websites on the next visit. They allow the website to recognise the user’s device and remember their preferences.
This document also provides information on the use of technologies similar to cookies, such as the browser’s localStorage (a local storage area that operates similarly to cookies but is not automatically transmitted to the server).
3. Types of cookies
Cookies are classified according to their function:
- Strictly necessary technical cookies: essential for the website to function. They do not require the user’s consent pursuant to Art. 122(1) of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003.
- Preference cookies: remember the user’s choices (e.g. cookie consent). Considered technical if strictly linked to website functionality.
- Third-party analytics cookies: collect aggregate information about website visits. Not used by this website.
- Profiling cookies: track user behaviour for advertising purposes. Not used by this website.
- Third-party cookies: installed by domains other than the visited website. They may be installed when external content is loaded (e.g. Google Maps).
4. Cookies and technologies used by this website
4.1 First-party technical cookies (Controller: Judica Appalti e Costruzioni S.r.l.)
The website uses exclusively technically necessary technologies:

4.2 Third-party services (active only upon consent or manual activation)
Google Fonts (Google LLC)
The website uses typographic fonts provided by Google Fonts (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) via CDN. When the browser loads a font from Google, the Google server automatically receives the device’s IP address as part of the standard HTTP request. This may constitute a transfer of data to the USA.
Google Fonts via CDN does not install cookies on the user’s device, but the IP address transfer is documented in the Google Fonts Privacy FAQ.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HTTP access log | Browsing data (not a cookie) | The IP address is recorded in Google’s server logs upon font loading. According to Google, it is deleted within 24–48 hours. | 24–48 hours (Google side) | Google LLC |
Google Maps (Google LLC)
On the Contact Us page, users can view an interactive map provided by Google Maps (Google LLC, USA). The map is not loaded automatically: the user must click the “Show map” button to activate it. Only at that point does the user’s browser establish a connection to Google’s servers, which may install third-party cookies and collect data (IP address, browsing data).
For more information on cookies installed by Google Maps, please refer to Google’s Privacy Policy and Google’s Cookie Policy.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Various Google cookies (e.g. CONSENT, SID, NID, etc.) |
Third-party (activated on voluntary click) | Operation and personalisation of the interactive map. Loaded only after explicit user action (click on “Show map”). | From session to 2 years (variable, managed by Google) | Google LLC |
Web3Forms
The contact form on the Contact Us page uses the Web3Forms service (Soft Solutions, https://web3forms.com/) for message transmission. When the user submits the form, the data entered (first name, last name, email, phone, message) is transmitted to Web3Forms’ servers for delivery to JAC’s email address. Web3Forms does not install cookies and does not retain user data beyond the time required for message delivery.
5. Legal basis for processing via cookies
- First-party technical cookies (including the
jac_cookie_v2localStorage entry): do not require user consent pursuant to Art. 122(1) of Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 and the Garante Guidelines 2021. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), necessary for the operation of the website. - Google Maps: activated exclusively upon voluntary user action (click on “Show map”). The legal basis of consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) applies to the resulting third-party cookies.
- Google Fonts: processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for the provision of the typographic service. The IP transfer is documented in this Cookie Policy.
6. Transfers to third countries
Google services (Google Fonts, Google Maps) involve the transfer of data to the United States of America, a third country with respect to the European Economic Area. Such transfers take place in compliance with the guarantees provided for under the GDPR, in particular on the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by the European Commission pursuant to Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR, and the supplementary measures implemented by Google following the judgment of the Court of Justice of the EU (Case C-311/18, “Schrems II”).
